Hey NFL! Make everyone play in a dome! There. I assumme the NFL has seen my request, and therefore I'm assumming they are considering it :)
But seriously, bad weather games are fun to watch, as long as your team isn't the one playing in it. For 2 reasons -
#1 - Severe snow and rain, alter the game to a point in which it's no longer of the best team winning, but rather the LUCKIEST team winning. There's already enough luck and unpredictability involved in the game. From bad calls by the refs, to unfortunate injuries, to the way the ball bounces. No need to add yet another element of luck if you can avoid it.
#2 - I want to see players play at their best. No player, no matter who is is, plays their best in the snow or rain. Playing in poor weather conditions may increase the "entertainment value" of a game, but it also lessens the actual quality of it.
#3 - Teams that play outdoors late in the season are at a disadvantage. Take the Chargers and the Chiefs for example. The Chargers have an advantage, since they play fewer games in bad weather. Therefore their chances of winning games late in the year are better.
The only downside, is you wouldn't see plays like this anymore -
Go ahead. Try to keep up... (Warning! There's a bad word.)
Admit it. You did this with your sister's Barbie doll when you were a kid...
So after last night's blowout loss to the Saints, I re-joined the Dallas Cowboys Fan Forum, and posted some things that a few fellow Cowboy fans questioned me about. One of them, was that our draft this offseason was a joke. I just went back and checked, and you can find my thoughts on our draft on August 26th and 29th of this year. Or I can save you the trouble, and just repeat what I said back then - Drafting skill players is dumb. We have plenty as it is. Our weaknesses are on the offensive line and defense. We can't protect Romo, and our running game is hit and miss at best. We also have a brand-new defensive scheme, which none of our current players were drafted to play in. Hate to say I told you so, but you saw the game last night.
There's also the fact that we were out-couched on both sides of the ball last night. This coaching staff has to go. Monte Kiffin hasn't been a relevant in years, and Bill Callahan is the equivalent on the offesive side of things. Fire Kiffin, and give Marinelli the interim DC job. Give the play-calling duties back to Garrett, and demote Callahan. Neither is a long-term solution, but it's better than what we've got, and where we're headed. After the season, when we've finished 8-8 again (or worse), fire the entire coaching staff and start over.
Hiring an actual GM might help too.
The video below is funny, but it also got me thinking - CAN THOR FIND A NEW BAD-GUY TO FIGHT? Everytime Thor's in a movie, Loki's there too. Thor, Avengers, Thor 2... What's next? Avengers 2: Loki's Revenge?
