All the things that need to be done are going on this weekend! First and foremost….First Friday! Go and mingle with some of Bakersfield’s best artists, musicians, and all around talent! Really, you see something cool at a booth? STOP BY!
Latination is back at Metro Galleries, this year being the fifth exhibit of some of Bakersfield’s finest! This event does amazing every year, so if you’re downtown tonight, make sure to stop in and check out the art (I may be partial to, say, a few certain artists. Yeah, I’m biased.). Mento Buru will be supplying music! Get more info HERE and at http://themetrogalleries.com/
Mento Buru will be keeping at it all night, so when you’re done at the Metro, make sure to go check the band out at Sandrini’s for their After Pachanga with Velorio and DJ Mikey! And make sure to tell Matt Munoz happy birthday!
The Foundry has FOUR things to show you this First Friday! Water colors, a members exhibit, some abstract, and acrylics! The Foundry is just a smidge of a step from the Metro, so you have no excuse to not pop in! Get more info on the Foundry HERE or at http://www.bakersfieldfoundry.com/
Other things? Oh, yes, lots!
Bakersfield Art Association is presenting Phyliss Oliver’s “Sketches.” More info on the B.A.A. can be found at http://www.bakersfieldartassociation.org/
Bakersfield Museum of Art is going to have more info about the upcoming Via Arte event! Look for them set up in front of the Spotlight Theatre! Of course, get more info on the Bakersfield Museum of Art at http://bmoa.org/
One of the finest in coffee, Dagny’s, is also showing an artists reception tonight! While getting your perfect cup of coffee, make sure to check out the works of Kathy Beck, Carol Black, Norma Eaton, Stella Mullins, Greg Stanley, Cindy Stiles and Nancy Waldron! Go to http://www.dagnyscoffee.com/
Aaaand if you mosey over to Oak Street tonight, be sure to stop by The Empty Space! They’ll be doing a new take on my personal favorite from Willy Shakes (Shakespeare and I are buddies, so we call each other silly things all of the time *cough*): A Midsummer Night’s Dream! This version takes places in the gold rush era! The show runs until September 28th! More info, as always, go to www.esonline.org
