Yes, it's true- Nine Inch Nails is capable of a greatest hits album. Trent Reznor has been making music that long. Before you grab your walker and cane, know that NEW music could be involved on this album.
Spin managed to have a gander at the new issue of The New Yorker (which you have to pay and subscribe to to view it online) that features an article/interview with Reznor. You can view a snippet of The New Yorker article HERE or read on with Spin's synopsis:
Here's the exact language that made it past the magazine's generally impeccable fact-checkers: "In 2014, Interscope Records will release an edition of the band's greatest hits, to which Reznor intends to contribute two new songs. Then he plans to write music for a new record." So, the best-of seems like a sure thing, and we'll just have to hope Reznor follows through on his plans and intentions for fresh material.
The story goes on to cover Reznor's business venture with Dr. Dre (!), his childhood, and what it's like winning an Academy Award. Read more on this at Spin.com
If you could compile your own version of a Nine Inch Nails Greatest Hits, what would you put on it? I'm going for some like this:
