Bakersfield Community Theatre presents Once Upon a Midnight Dreary, a play inspired by Edgar Allen Poe. If there is a proper writer to think of for this time of year, there is no one better than Poe. Local thespian/woman about theatre Michelle Guerrero wrote and directed this show, pulling together puppets, costumes, smoke bombs, spooky makeup and more. PLUS, there will be a masquerade on opening night, which is this Friday!

There's ONE MORE weekend of Gorey Stories at The Empty Space! Spooky stories inspired by the works of Edward Gorey! This is a must-see for anyone familiar with the man's work or for anyone wanting to check out something in the spirit of Halloween!

There's also one more weekend for the late night show following Gorey Stories- The Unexpected Man. Admission is $5 and info on both shows can be found at www.esonline.org

ALSO at The Empty Space this weekend is the closing reception of Out of the Ashes: Bakersfield's Sixth All Women's Art Show! I cannot say enough nice things about this show. This show is devoted to celebrating the artistic endeavors of women. There will be snacks, drinks, music, MANY vendors, and really- have a gander at that gallery wall. Not a blank spot in sight. I'm really proud of the work that has been put into this show, so I demand-DEMAND you check it out Sunday from noon-four!

Tonicism Productions, The Empty Space, and Meet Your Neighbors present Spooktacular Stories a family friendly event performed and written by the cast of the show! Get more info on Meet Your Neighbors at http://mynkern.org/
