Casey Anthony, the Florida mother who was acquitted of murdering her two-year-old daughter Caylee, has filed for bankruptcy.Court records revealed that Anthony owes almost $800,000, with the majority of her debt stemming from legal fees. Anthony also owes roughly $70,000 to theIRS for taxes and penalties. Court papers list Anthony as unemployed, with no recent income. The papers also reveal that Anthony is the defendant in several civil suits.  Among them is one filed by a woman who claims she was damaged by Anthony having told detectives that her daughter was kidnapped by a baby sitter of the same name. Anthony’s attorney claims details offered by Anthony make it clear she was not talking about the woman who filed suit against her. Anthony lists roughly 80 creditors in the 60-page court filing. Though Anthony was acquitted of killing Caylee, jurors convicted her of four counts of lying to detectives, and her attorneys appealed those convictions. [KTLA]

Vaccine to Help Alcoholics

Researchers are working on a vaccine that could one day help alcoholics stop drinking. The vaccine gives anyone who drinks even a small amount of alcohol an immediate and very heavy hangover. Scientists at the University of Chile have spent the past year working on the design for the vaccine, in a bid to tackle the growing problem of alcoholism in their country. The vaccine would counteract the liver’s ability to metabolize alcohol. Additional testing on mice is scheduled to begin next month. Researchers anticipate that the vaccine would be effective for between six months and a year. [KTLA]
