DOUCHE OF THE DAY: Lindsay Lohan Home: Actress Can't Pay Rent On ‘Million Dollar Decorators' House

Lindsay Lohan Home

Here we go again… Lindsay Lohan just can’t seem to keep herself out of trouble. According to TMZ the “Liz & Dick” actress has scorned Bravo TV’s “Million Dollar Decorators” by refusing to film the “big reveal" of her Beverly Hills home after the show spent a reported $200,000 renovating it. The entire remodel process was filmed, and Hollyscoop even had photos of Lohan shopping with designer Kathryn Ireland for furniture which included Venetian table lamps and sofas. Lohan was completely onboard but then suddenly decided against taping the final shot. Bravo producers are supposedly trying to put the episode together without Lohan. But that’s just the start of all this trouble. TMZ is also reporting Lohan can’t even pay the $8,000 rent on said house and unsuccessfully has tried to break the lease. She will remain responsible for the home until February 2013 when the lease is up. We knew Lohan was having money problems after the Internal Revenue Service recently froze her accounts due to $233,904 in unpaid taxes -- but to bite the hands that decorate your house? That’s pretty bad. [Huff Po]

Dave Grohl considers 'Sound City' documentary more important than his work in Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and QOTSA

Dave Grohl has set a lofty standard for his upcoming directing debut, studio documentary Sound City, in a message sent to fans who spent $10 to pre-order the movie through its website "I really feel like Sound City is my life's most important work," the Foo Fighters frontman and Nirvana drummer, who is also reprising his role as Queens of the Stone Age drummer, says in the note. "I hope that you do too." (Dave also recently revealed he won’t be touring with QOTSA despite drumming in their ablums… bummer) The dispatch from Grohl comes after he announced a February 1 release date for a video download of Sound City. The movie will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, held January 17 through 27 in Park City, Utah. Prominent artists interviewed for the film include Trent Reznor, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Rick Rubin, and many, many more. [SPIN]

Strong Reaction to New U.C. Logo

&nbsp

University of California has unveiled a new logo for advertising and documents, but not everyone is happy about the change. Some students and alumni have started an online petition to drop the new and simpler logo, which is a solid “U” containing a “C” resting at the bottom. They want the 10-campus system to use the traditional circular medallion that shows an open book, the motto Let There Be Light and the 1868 date of UCs founding. UC system spokeswoman Dianne Klein said that critics wrongly assume that UC is eliminating the traditional symbol. That symbol will remain on all diplomas and official correspondence. Klein said the old logo does not reproduce well in small size on Internet pages and that UC wanted something more visually contemporary and versatile, especially for online efforts to seek donations and recruit applicants. Go check and out and see what you think… Personally, I’m not a fan. [KTLA]

iGotYa App Sends Pic To Stolen iPhone's Owner

Stolen iPhone pictureThis image was taken during an attempt to unlock the phone

A woman has unwittingly taken her own picture as she attempted to unlock a stolen phone. The image was then automatically sent to the owner who called the police. A "rather cool" app downloaded on to the phone takes a picture of anyone who tries to unlock it, maps their location and then sends the information to the owner in an email. Police said they do not know whether the woman pictured was responsible for the theft but they appealed for her or anyone who recognises her to contact them. Pretty cool app if you ask me. Worth a look that iGotYa. [Sky]

Police concerned with Apple iOS 6 mapping system

Oh Apple iOS 6 maps, you are our douche of the day. Australian authorities are urging motorists to use anything but Apple Maps to get around the Outback after the app left several people stranded in the searing desert, a mistake police called a “potentially life-threatening issue.” be careful when relying on the mapping system on the Apple iPhones operating on the iOS 6 system after a number of motorists were directed off the beaten track in recent weeks. Police in Mildura, Victoria, said they’ve had to rescue “a number of distressed motorists that were directed off the beaten track” and stranded in Murray-Sunset National Park. Apple Maps places the town about 43 miles away from its actual location. It’s a potentially deadly mistake, as the location is in the middle of nowhere — the park has no water supply and temperatures can reach 115 degrees. Some of the motorists located by police have been stranded for up to 24 hours without food or water and have walked long distances through dangerous terrain to get phone reception. This is the latest, and perhaps most serious, criticism of the mess that is Apple Maps. [Wired] [Vic Police News]

John McAfee wants to return to US

U.S. software guru John McAfee, fighting deportation from Guatemala to Belize to face questions about the slaying of a neighbor, said on Saturday he wants to return to the United States. "My goal is to get back to America as soon as possible," McAfee, 67, said in a phone call to Reuters from the immigration facility where he is being held for illegally crossing the border to Guatemala with his 20-year-old girlfriend. "I wish I could just pack my bags and go to Miami," McAfee said. "I don't think I fully understood the political situation. I'm an embarrassment to the Guatemalan government and I'm jeopardizing their relationship with Belize." The two neighboring countries in Central America are locked in a decades-long territorial dispute and voters in 2013 will decide in a referendum how to proceed. Responding to McAfee's remarks, a U.S. State Department spokeswoman said U.S. citizens in foreign countries are subject to local laws. Officials can only ensure they are "treated properly within this framework," she said. [NDTV]
