I'm trying to brace myself for the upcoming wind of concerts (Free 4 All, Primus, Rocking Roots, Summerland Tour), so I thought it would be nice to pass along some info about OTHER events going on. First Friday is today so you can mosey down and around town to find some cool stuff to keep you entertained. Remember- don't run in front of cars without looking if you are tipsy, wearing heels, and downtown. The more you know.
Art-wise, make sure to go check out Superimpose, an exhibit at The Foundry featuring multiple exposure photography. The artists behind the show are Jennifer Williams and Tim Chong. Get more info on The Foundry at www.bakersfieldfoundry.com
Next to The Foundry, there's the Metro's exhibit Real and Imagined: A Collection of (Mostly) Animal Paintings. I'm sold on this because LOOK AT THIS PAINTING! Awesome! Animals are usually a pretty good selling point for me.
Also on Friday, go check out the band that never rests- Mento Buru- along with DJ Mikey with special guests Isaiah Navarro and the Tribe! They'll be downstairs at Sandrini's and it's only $5 to get some music in your system for First Friday!
A fun way to get behind kicking cancer's butt: a Hero vs. Villain Training Camp! This fundraiser will help raise money for Relay for Life team Team G.E.E.K.! Dress up as your favorite superhero or supervillain and learn how to use your powers to fight back against cancer!
Local favorites Velorio are joining Moonlight Trio on Saturday at On the Rocks! The show will kick off at 9:30 and it's suggested that you make reservations due to the badassness of this show. Get more on On the Rocks by checking out www.http://iloveontherocks.com/
