Dave Grohl paid tribute to Steve Albini during Foo Fighters' show in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thursday night (May 8). The legendary producer, who was famous for working on Nirvana's In Utero, passed away on Tuesday (May 7) after suffering a fatal heart attack. He was 61 years old.

“Tonight I’d like to dedicate this song to a friend that we lost the other day, who I’ve known a long, long time,” Grohl said before diving into the band's emotional hit, "My Hero." “He left us much too soon. He’s touched all of your lives, I’m sure. I’m talking about Steve Albini. For those of you who know, you know. For those of you who don’t know, just remember that name: Steve Albini. Let’s sing this one for him.”

The Foos are playing a handful of other US dates before hopping the pond to the UK and Europe. They return stateside this summer for a massive stadium tour. See fan-shot footage of "My Hero" and a full list of tour dates below.
